Mixed With Sugar

I wanted to take the time to let everybody know that Paula from the Mixed With Sugar blog has a son who will soon be going to Iraq.

The part that stinks even more is that he was due to be discharged in a month. He has already done one tour but the military forcibly extended his enlistment.

I don't know how many of you read Paula, but she is a super nice lady and a great Mom.

For lack of a better word, this kind of crap sucks.

I totally agree, it is soooo wrong, when is your government going to realise that this is just another Vietman, and you are losing all your lovely men for what?????? Total waste of good men and women's lives. It must stop.

And I HATE commenting on politics, religion etc, it goes against the grain to put my feelings/opinions on these matters out there, so please if anyone reads this and disagrees, please don't blast me outta the water! I believe we are all ENTITLED to our OPINION, as long as we are not ramming down your throat!

Dear Caro- thank you for your kind words and support. It means the world to us and my son is feeling very blessed by all the good wishes and prayers from all the bloggers we hear from out there. It is giving him some peace of mind and that is a huge thing right now. Thank you all for that.

Chris - Nobody flames here, at least not yet. I'm not super political so nobody super political visits that I'm aware of. :) I agree that the Iraq war is a HUGE mistake. I support the troops but not our government.

Ty - I can't imagine either.

Paula - You're welcome. I wish I could do more than prayers and wishes, like change back-door draft laws.

I feel the same way,I think the whole thing is BS but I 100% support the men and women involved.

That just can't be right. That's like saying "we drafted you."

My heart goes out to her. I can only imagine how scary that must be. But she should be proud. Very proud. He is doing his country a magnificant service. I would like to see our men and women come home asap as well. But keep in mind we don't want to leave behind a breeding ground for those terrorists who want to attack us on OUR soil either. God Bless him.

Ms. L - It's a big yucky mess for sure.

Old Hoss - Exactly.

GM - I know she is proud of him but if the only reason we don't have the draft is because the same people are being forced to put themselves in harms way repeatedly, then there has to be a better solution.

Caro,

Your post on this was a lot more coherent than mine. I couldn't find the words--you said it very nicely (a horrible thing, but transmitted well...)

Gah! Paula, we love you and hope only the best for your son.
